ChemSoc’s first event of 2010 will be a Traffic Lights Pubcrawl!

Tuesday 9th February (yes, that’s next Tuesday…)

Join us at The Central at 7.30pm in your bright colours , with a view to finish up at the Colours Bop in the Union! If you’re unfamiliar with the ‘Traffic Lights’ theme, wear red if you’re taken, amber if you could be convinced, and green for go for it!

If you can’t make it at 7.30pm, join us along the way by following our planned schedule:

7.30pm The Central

8.30pm Greyfriars

9.30pm The Vic

10.30pm Union main bar, Colours Bop for those so inclined!

We hope to see many of you there, to welcome back the undergraduates and to reward the postgraduates for surviving the January Blues!

first is a pub crawl on Tuesday 9th Feb. Theme is Traffic lights and the route for this event will be updated shortly.

the second date is the ChemSoc Ball. this will be held on the 13th March. Details regarding venue and tickets will follow shortly also.

hi all!

just a quick update – we’ve got about 20 tickets left and only one more day to buy them!

On the night, please access the common room via the ChemSoc shop side. This will allow us to give you a cup and you’ll also be closer to the bar to use it!

No Band, No Booze. (or party at all!)

Hi All,

Just a quick reminder – we’re selling tickets for the ChemSoc party from the shop at 1 -2 pm everyday. We’ve sold a lot so far remember to get in quick!

This year we’re doing things slightly differently. We are issuing bands and there will be a ‘no band, no booze’ rule on the night. Also it’s important that you wear your band all night even if you’re not at the bar. This allows us to keep a check on numbers  -we’ve a maximum number of people allowed in the common room for health and safety regulations – and so you may be asked to leave if you don’t have one.  So please keep them safe if you’ve already bought one!

On a lighter note – the bar will still be free!

Christmas Party!

The year has gone by so fast, and once again it’s time for the Annual ChemSoc Christmas Party!

Joins us in celebrating the season with good music, festive cheer and a freshly pulled pint from our free bar. The bar will serve a selection of beers, spirit and soft drinks for you to enjoy all night long until the bar runs dry!

Where? Purdie Common Room
When? 7.00pm, Friday 11th December
Prices: ChemSoc Members £5/Non-members £10

Tickets will be on sale from the ChemSoc shop starting Monday 30th November, every weekday from 1pm til 2pm until the day itself, or until they sell out: whichever comes first! There will be a chance during these times to join ChemSoc in order to take advantage of the discounted price for members.

Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Tickets are limited to 140, and when they’re gone: they’re gone. So get your tickets sooner rather than later!

Broken machine

Just a quick note – our lock on the can machine has jammed and therefore we have been unable to fill it up.  sorry and we hope to have this fixed soon.

Quiz night

Hi all,

small change to the price for non-members – it will now be at £4 (not £6 as previously advertised).  You can still join chemsoc at the door (from 7 pm) on the night for £3.50.

in addition on the quiz night ChemSoc will also be electing undergraduate representatives.  We would like one person from each year to let the committee know what you think’s we’re doing right and wrong.  Also we’d like you to help us publicise up coming lectures and events.  We’ll be holding hustings on the night to give each candidate a chance to explain why they would be a good person to represent their year’s views and then we’ll put it to a vote.  All you have to do is come along on the night and we’ll hold elections then.  If you can’t make the quiz night but would still like to get involved, email mtw8 or talk to Michael in office 311.

Quiz night

Hi All,

We’re having a quiz (and wine) night on Thursday 29th October!

This event is free forChemSoc members and £6 for non-members.  Wine and nibbles will be provided.  If you would like to join chemsoc then you can do so on the night for £3.50.

The quiz will be kicking off at 7.45 pm but doors will open from 7 pm for those wishing to join chemsoc or just bag a seat!
