ChemSoc ball: Dine and Dance tickets

Hi All,

Today is the last chance to purchase a Dine and Dance ticket for this years ChemSoc.  You can do this between 1-2 pm today in the common room!  There is only 8 tickets left so make sure you get in quick.  Prices and information can be found on below.

The Dance tickets will still be on sale next week – however these number are also limited!

ChemSoc Elections – Wed 17th March

ChemSoc Elections will be held at our AGM on Wednesday 17th March at 3pm in  the  common room. Positions available are:

President

Vice President

Treasurer

Secretary

Publicity & Events

Shop Manager

Ordinary member (currently two, but if there’s keenness could be more)

To apply for a position, you need to leave a piece of paper with Michael in  room  311 (there will also be an envelope on the office door) detailing the position  you want, your name & signature and the names of a proposer and a seconder (should all be ChemSoc members).  If you want information about what the positions entail, contact Michael  (mtw8).

The Guilt!

Hi All,

I’m very pleased to report some special news to you all!

We are all particular excited to have The Guilt playing our second live set at the annual ball!  You may have already heard them playing at the New Inn, the Vic or the Byre. If you haven’t, and can’t wait to hear them at the ball, then why not pop along to the New Inn, from about 9 ish, this Saturday?  (Entry is even free!)

So with over half the dinner tickets gone already if you haven’t got yours yet they will still be on sale between 1-2 pm this week.

Ceilidh tickets are now on sale too! These are priced at £10 and will give you entry to the two live bands that we have for the night!

ChemSoc Ball menu

Hi All,

Just a quick update about the ball! Tickets are still on sale in the common room between 1-2 pm (mon-fri) and details regarding prices can be found below.

the menu for the night is as follows:

Tomato and Basil Soup

~

Slow roasted shoulder of pork with a light thyme and garlic jus

Vegetarian option: Red onion and brie tart with basil pesto

Served with market vegetables and potatoes

~

Warm sticky toffee pudding

~

Coffee and fudge

~

ChemSoc will provide also provide red and white wine for each table

Also a dine and dance ticket includes a sparkling wine reception as well as entertainment from two fantastic bands!

ChemSoc Lecture : Thursday 25th February

ChemSoc presents:

Ashley Baker, the head of research and development at MacPhie’s, the cake, confectionary and sauce producers, will be giving a talk on ‘The Chemistry of the Food Industry’.  The lecture will be held at 4:00pm Thursday 25th February in Lecture Theatre C.   You can find out more about MacPhie’s at www.macphie.com

ChemSoc Ball – March 13th

Hi All,

This year the ChemSoc Ball will be held on Saturday 13th March 2010 starting at 7 pm at The Scores Hotel.

Tickets on sales in the common room 1.00 – 2.00 pm from Monday 22nd Feb until Friday 6th March

Dinner & Dance Tickets :  £30 members/£35 non-members

This ticket includes a sparkling wine reception, 3 course dinner with wine and coffee.  Aswell as the dance with two bands until 1 am!

Dinner & Dance for two people :  £55

The double ticket deal includes everything listed above. To buy this ticket at least one of the two must be a  member of ChemSoc but this is open to pairs of friends as well as couples!

Dance ticket only:              £10

This ticket will give you entry to the live music entertainment!  These tickets will go on sale in 29th Feb onwards.

Traffic Lights Pubcrawl!

ChemSoc’s first event of 2010 will be a Traffic Lights Pubcrawl!

Tuesday 9th February (yes, that’s next Tuesday…)

Join us at The Central at 7.30pm in your bright colours , with a view to finish up at the Colours Bop in the Union! If you’re unfamiliar with the ‘Traffic Lights’ theme, wear red if you’re taken, amber if you could be convinced, and green for go for it!

If you can’t make it at 7.30pm, join us along the way by following our planned schedule:

7.30pm The Central

8.30pm Greyfriars

9.30pm The Vic

10.30pm Union main bar, Colours Bop for those so inclined!
